1. View of Cape Coast towards the South, from Lighthouse Hill
It is likely that Hendrik Muller visited Cape Coast after he visited Elmina. Cape Coast is the former British Capital of the Gold Coast, situated circa 15 kilometres east of Elmina. All photo's of Cape Coast show views of the town and were most likely bought by him.
In the foreground one sees a large merchants' house at the foot of the hill. Behind that is Government House, the Methodist Chapel with square tower, and Cape Coast Castle. Behind Government House and another private house one can just see the low round tower of the Anglican Church. On the left of the photo a number of merchants' houses is visible situated in the business centre of the town (Commercial Street). Of further note are the many swish (clay) houses with flat roofs.
